Our Approach
Sophia has spent 20 years supporting clients and graduate students on their personal journey to understand their biases and transform their outlook. Though it’s not always easy to take a close look at your leadership style, it is always worth it. Using a deep understanding of neuroscience and psychology, she helps clients understand the biological motivations behind their actions. This approach guides them to create an awareness and relationship among thought, behavior, and external perception. The result ignites internal passion and fosters clear communication across all levels. Sophia’s approach is holistic, leader-led, data-driven and based on real experience.
We work side-by-side with your leadership, DEI, HR, and communications teams to quantify your business goals and position them in enterprise-wide initiatives that support your strategic vision.
We elevate overlooked individuals by guiding leaders and teams to develop inclusive behaviors and foster accountability at every level to promote change across your organization that fosters a strong sense of belonging within teams and work groups.
We align initiatives with quantitative and qualitative data that shows how hearts and minds are changing across the enterprise. We translate ambitions into attainable and measurable short- and long-term goals.
Our experience is founded in our business and academic experience to advance DEI, as well as our expansive network of coaches, consultants and academic partners.
Increased Inclusion
Weaving DEI strategies into your organizational structure is the best way to ensure your company has an inclusive culture that embraces employees from day 1 through day 3,650+. Sophia helps you create systems that attract, retain, and develop your team and heighten their EQ. Putting your people at the center of your plan is the secret ingredient to future success and we can show you how.
Collecting Feedback
Sophia has resources to help you develop best tools and surveys to establish baseline data, assess movement towards goals, and shift your investments in training resources, management, and culture, set clear baselines, benchmarks, and help support your investment in talent management, pipeline growth, and cultural shift in a strategic inclusive way.
Processing Change
Change is hard, especially when it’s decided for us and we don’t quite understand it. The key is to avoid an emotional reaction to the change. This is focused neuroplasticity in action. We may be hired to think, but our success is driven by our ability to work with each other. Those who will excel at their careers are the ones who are open to change and who have the fortitude to drive through it in a focused manner.
The Neuroscience of Change
We learn about acceptable behavior from one another and mimic what works. Sophia teaches psychology of behavior so leaders can understand why they must constantly model good behavior to create a positive foundation in workplace cultures.
Comfort in Change
Let’s face it: change is painful. Most organizational change isn’t something people created for themselves. Often, Sophia must get leaders to buy into change they are not excited about. Forcing change is typically counterproductive. The individual must buy into the need to change and be responsible for making it happen.
Growth Mindset
Teaching leaders how their brain reacts to change helps them gain awareness into how human beings are wired, particularly when developing a growth mindset. This awareness gives leaders a compelling reason to get curious and develop different communication habits when working through change within an organization.
Engaging Your Team
Managers with a growth mindset foster a culture of coaching and learning that in turn creates opportunities for insight and innovation. They are more observant about their employees’ improvement. They don’t remain stuck in an impression that can limit them, and their teams see these managers as offering better employee development.
Public Speaking
Sophia engages with audiences of any size from corporate to small business and anywhere in between. She has a fondness for presenting about inclusive leadership. She relies on rich stories of inclusion and belonging with best practices that result in transformational change for leaders and their teams.
She has spoken at company and professional association events including The Society for Human Resource Management, Human Resources People & Strategy, Comcast Corporation, IBM, TW Telecom, and the National Football League.
The Secret Sauce
Sophia wrote the DEI chapter in The Secret Sauce for Leading Transformational Change. The idea for the book began during the COVID-19 pandemic with changes taking place in people’s personal and work lives, and society at large. Living with all the uncertainty prompted questions about what it takes to lead, survive, and even thrive in periods of transformational change. Order a copy!

Start With The Basics
Engage Leadership First
Organizations looking to differentiate and authentically adapt their cultures must begin evolving their current state at the leadership level. Senior leaders influence the entire organization and diversity and inclusion among teams begins with them. Sophia can engage your leaders, in a way that resonates with them, to better understand how they fit into the ideal culture.
Clarify and Share Your Practices
How you recruit, manage, and engage with employees is imperative to your organization’s culture. This means you are committed to changing policies and processes as needed to attract, develop, and retain individuals from diverse groups. Sophia can work with a human resources team to clarify, strengthen, or change the intrinsic support they provide to the organization to attract and retain employees.
Develop Work Life Balance
Creating a healthy, thriving culture relies on being in touch with the needs of a diverse team while fulfilling the needs of the organization. At the organizational level, leadership can remove barriers for underrepresented groups, engage with employees in a way that is beneficial to their quality of life, and identify ways to strengthen retention. Sophia can help you update and develop training, policies, and communications that encourage employees to find a feeling of belonging and commitment to your organization.
Review and Share the Data
Organizations committed to change must measure the results of their efforts and ensure their procedures are creating the desired results. Tracking and sharing both outcome and process metric results will solidify your organization’s goal to be inclusive, serve as an example in your industry, and provide a baseline for further evolution. Sophia can help your team identify what matters most and how to measure the impact of your efforts, as well as how to report out to your audience.
Actively Integrate Values
Once an organization is clear about its commitment to inclusion, communicating these values is imperative both internally and externally. This supports the organization’s efforts to not only practice policies and procedures with the team members but also throughout their partnerships and business efforts. This provides a bridge for the value chain to mirror the internal commitment to DEI. Sophia can help develop tools that support this value integration.
Inspire Future Leaders
Evolving current leadership must emerge with the desire to cultivate future leaders by proactively connecting with diverse communities. Ensuring your current team feels engaged and has the ability to grow will reflect positively in your organization’s outcomes. Proving your commitment to retain talent, develop skills, and provide resources to your employees will reinforce your actions to be genuine in your efforts. Sophia can help you identify ways to engage your current talent.
